About

Compassionate Ministries of Malawi is a Christian ministry located in Zomba, Malawi. The Head is Pastor Francis J. Mpinganjira. The ministry was established in 2002 with the purpose of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor in the remote portions of Malawi. It has since grown into providing food, clothing, water, health care and education to the native people. We believe that Jesus has commanded us take care of the widows and orphans. With over 500,000 widows and orphans in Malawi this is no small matter and we need your help.

The areas of our ministry include:

Evangelism - We go to the remote areas of Malawi host crusades and win people to Christ. Then plant a church to disciple the converts in the way of Jesus Christ.

Food - We distribute maize (corn) and rice to those who need it.

Medical - We have built a clinic for the poor who cannot afford to go to the hospital. We treat HIV/Aids, malaria and many other illnesses.

Orphans - We supply food, clothing, medical, and education. We also have an adoption program where you can support orphans financially for a small amount each month.

Prison - We minister to the prisons and supply them with items of hygiene.

Housing - Many people in Malawi do not have adequate housing. I have seen as many as 15 people living in an 8 foot by 8 foot house. We provide modest housing for the poor.

Water - Thousands of children die every year because of water born disease. We drill wells that provide clean drinking water for the people.

Meet the Pastor:

Pastor Francis was born in 1963 shortly after that his parents divorced and he did not see his father again till he was twelve years old. Rejected by his stepfather he was raised by his grandmother as so many children in Malawi today. Clothes with holes in and no blankets to keep warm at night was a way of life. After completing secondary school Francis worked to help support his grandmother and provide for her. He started to save money for a bicycle but could never save enough to purchase it. Every time he saved a few dollars he would see someone who needs food or clothing and he would give them his money. This was before he gave his life to Christ. Then on January 1st 1984 he surrendered his life to the Lord. He felt the call to full time ministry but as most of us do he resisted. Then in 1989 he resigned from his job and attended the Assemblies of God School of Theology. He pastored a local church for about five years but kept getting the urge to evangelism and taking care of the poor and needy. He then founded Compassionate Missions Center to help alleviate the suffering of the people in southern Malawi.

I met Pastor Francis in September of 2008. My friend Gary Nouse and I spent a week following him around Malawi and watched him holding crusades in which hundreds gave their heart to the Lord and planting a church with the fruit of those crusades. Taking 100 pound bags of corn and distributing them to the poor. Showing us small business he has set up to provide jobs for his people. He believes in teaching a man to fish instead of just giving him the fish. We stopped and gave money and prayed for a Muslim family. It does not matter to him if they are Christian or not, he loves them and does his best to provide for them. We toured a medical clinic he built to provide health care for the poor that is badly in need of equipment and supplies. This man has the heart of Jesus. That says it all!
